Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the leader of Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa, has a video message for supporters after being released on a 40-day parole from Sunria jail in Rohtak this morning.The dera head urged his followers in a message sent after arriving at an ashram in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, to obey authority figures and refrain from acting on their own volition.

Now, there are claims that the video message he published contains political undertones.”It suggests political opportunism on the part of the Haryana government that the dera head was released on the eve of the panchayat and Adampur polls. The action further hurts the family of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati, whose murder the dera chief was found guilty of and jailed for “observes renowned author and political analyst Pawan Kumar Bansal.
The dera chief was also given a 21-day vacation and a one-month regular parole earlier this year. He is currently serving a prison sentence at Sunaria jail in Rohtak district for the rape of two of his female pupils and the murder of a journalist.The decision to award him additional 40 days of parole at a time when the courts are inundated with requests for release from prisoners all around the state has sparked discussion.
